About the Role

The Pharmacy Technician will work in collaboration with the Pharmacist to perform a variety of clerical, pharmaceutical, and other general duties in the Pharmacy and other areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and dispensing medications, including sterile and non-sterile preparations, unit dose pre-packaging, and drug distribution
  • Issuing narcotics and managing controlled substances
  • Purchasing and receiving supplies, including medications and equipment
  • Refilling automated dispensing cabinets and preparing extemporaneous preparations
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication with patients, staff, and physicians

Key Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for:

  • Performing clerical duties, including data entry and record-keeping
  • Assisting with patient counseling and education
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives and contributing to a safe and inclusive work environment
  • Collaborating with the Pharmacy team to ensure accurate and timely medication dispensing

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Pharmacy Technician must have:

  • A diploma or certificate in Pharmacy Technology from an accredited program
  • Current licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and service
