Community Support Worker

As a Community Support Worker at E4C, you will play a crucial role in delivering stability, recovery, and assistance to individuals working towards improved life circumstances. You will engage closely with residents who need additional housing support due to previous traumas, mental health challenges, and issues related to addiction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with team members and residents to create educational opportunities focused on wellness best practices.
  • Ensure that wellness strategies are in harmony with residents' care plans by partnering with the integrated staff team.
  • Maintain communication with staff to monitor residents' progress, behavioral changes, and to address any emerging concerns.
  • Encourage conflict resolution, effective communication, empathy, and respect through positive reinforcement, role modeling, and attentive listening.
  • Implement accountability measures within a framework of natural law and relationship-based practices.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with residents to set wellness objectives and plan activities.
  • Collaborate with staff to exemplify positive neighborly relations within the community.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with community stakeholders, serving as a point of contact during evening hours.
  • Organize integrated activities, events, and relationship-building initiatives with other programs to cultivate community among staff and residents.
  • Develop a resident advisory board in partnership with residents and relevant colleagues to influence program decisions.
  • Manage food inventory and kitchen supplies within the designated budget.
  • Work with staff and residents to design menus that reflect preferences and adhere to dietary guidelines.
  • Collaborate with staff and residents to prepare and serve meals.
  • Oversee the development and management of the wellness and recreation budget.
  • Handle the procurement of wellness supplies and materials for planned activities.
  • Ensure timely development, management, and reporting of all wellness service delivery information.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, bylaws, and standards.
  • Administer medication to all residents as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications

  • Degree or diploma in human services, education, or administration.
  • Police Check with Vulnerable Sector.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Medication Administration training.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Recommendations for Mental Health First Aid, De-escalation Certificate, and additional relevant certifications.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of direct service experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative team environment and provide supervision.
  • Personal lived experience with challenges is considered an asset.
  • Experience in collaborative partnerships.
  • Working knowledge and experience with various supportive practices.
