About This Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals and becoming more independent in a private residential or group home setting.
  • Support individuals in developing skills such as personal care, housekeeping, and companionship, as well as learning general living skills like budgeting and meal planning.
  • Provide support in a one-on-one or group setting, promoting inclusion in community activities and linking individuals to community support services and employment coaching.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or diploma in Disability Studies or related Social Sciences/Human Services or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, with specialized education and training and/or demonstrated success in relevant settings.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license, suitable Driver's Abstract, proof of insurability, and own vehicle.
  • First Aid/CPR, Restrictive Procedures, Abuse Protocols, and Non Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention certifications.
  • Commitment to philosophies and principles of community-based living for individuals in service.
