Baker Tilly Ottawa LLP is seeking a skilled, motivated, and client-focused individual to enhance our tax services team. We are looking for a candidate who can assist in delivering exceptional client service, ensuring that all aspects of our clients' tax compliance requirements are fulfilled, identifying tax planning opportunities, and addressing complex tax-related challenges. Our tax group provides an outstanding environment for advancing your tax career through exciting opportunities while working in a collaborative and supportive setting.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and review of various Canadian income tax returns (T1, T2, T3, and T5013) and tax election forms.
  • Supporting Partners and Managers on tax planning projects.
  • Participating in special engagements.
  • Conducting research on tax issues and preparing detailed memoranda.
  • Interacting with tax authorities regarding audits and information requests.
  • Preparing and delivering technical training sessions for staff.

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment.
  • A relevant professional designation.
  • A commitment to continuous learning in the tax field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good technical knowledge of GAAP requirements for tax provisions.
  • Proficiency in software tools including Caseware and Taxprep.
  • A solid understanding of a client-centric approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
  • A strong work ethic, with the capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
