Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining our fleet of heavy equipment. This is a critical role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to determine the condition of heavy equipment
- Service, repair, and maintain a variety of heavy equipment, including container truck lifts, reach stackers, front-end loaders, cranes, and other special-purpose equipment
- Maintain accurate records of equipment repaired, time spent, and parts used
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and performing tune-ups
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, using a range of tools and equipment
- Collaborate with other technicians to ensure efficient and effective equipment maintenance
- Provide training and guidance to junior technicians
- Perform other related tasks as required
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Diploma of Professional Studies in heavy mechanic/diesel mechanic preferred
- Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
- 3 years' experience in the repair of trucks or other heavy automotive equipment
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification (inter-provincial seal preferred)
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electronic systems
- Possession of a valid Driver's License required
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, coordination, and dexterity
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and smell
- Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb or balance
- Must be capable of heavy lifting and moving parts up to 50 lbs on a consistent basis
- Must be able to work on your feet for entire assigned work shift
- Driving motor vehicles and heavy equipment is occasionally required
- Proven communication skills (written and verbal) in English and French
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and supervisors
- Ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
