Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Privacy Advisor to join our team at the Government of Alberta. As a key member of our privacy services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with ministry staff and external stakeholders to ensure the proper collection, use, disclosure, security, and retention of personal information, aligning with the privacy and security provisions of the FOIP Act.
  • Assist the Manager in liaising with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, responding to reviews, investigations, inquiries, privacy breaches, and Privacy Impact Assessments.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, resources, and communication materials to promote awareness and understanding of the FOIP Act.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to junior staff as required.

Requirements

  • Strong human relations skills to interact with people at any level within or outside of the Ministry, including diplomacy, political astuteness, conflict resolution, proactive problem-solving, negotiating, influencing, and sensitivity.
  • The ability to make complex decisions independently using innovation, creativity, and good judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to review large volumes of records with attention to detail.
