We are currently seeking a Shop Manager to oversee maintenance operations in our facility. This role involves managing all aspects of shop activities and providing leadership to the maintenance team. The Shop Manager will be responsible for ensuring optimal maintenance performance and the safety of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and oversee fleet maintenance schedules, assist in diagnosing equipment issues, and communicate vehicle availability with relevant personnel.
  2. Manage staffing responsibilities including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and addressing employee concerns.
  3. Collaborate with the location manager and regional maintenance leadership to monitor maintenance status and budgetary needs.
  4. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards, maintaining a safe working environment for all staff.
  5. Review and manage repair orders, procure necessary parts, and coordinate subcontracted repairs as needed.
  6. Initiate and lead projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
  7. Ensure maintenance technicians are well-trained, equipped, and motivated to perform their duties effectively and safely.
  8. Oversee fuel management for vehicles and coordinate maintenance of the facility.
  9. Complete additional projects as assigned, which may include hands-on technical work.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Technical training or a Mechanic license is preferred.
  3. Must possess the necessary licenses with endorsements.
  4. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a mechanical environment.
  5. Ability to lift weights ranging from 20 to 50 lbs.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Proficient in computer usage and interpersonal interactions.
  8. Experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance of school bus equipment is advantageous.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  1. Work will primarily be conducted in a maintenance shop environment.
  2. Ability to work in confined spaces and under vehicles, with exposure to dust, dirt, and grease.
