Vehicle Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of school buses. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing and repairing complex vehicle issues, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle issues, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, and other repairs.
  • Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
  • Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately, and maintain records of all maintenance work completed.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
  • Lead road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Moves vehicles safely between job and work area.

Qualifications:

  • Must have required Mechanic license.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Must have appropriate mechanics tool set.
  • Advanced problem-solving ability.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work assigned shift.
