Role Overview
As an Occupational Therapist at Bethany, you will encounter both personal and professional growth opportunities. Your dedication to the well-being of residents, families, and colleagues will be essential as you conduct thorough assessments and implement interventions. You will provide adaptive equipment to enhance independence and develop occupational therapy programs aimed at optimizing residents' physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional, and social capabilities. Collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team is crucial, and you will also provide guidance and oversight to Occupational Therapy Assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assessments related to daily living activities in accordance with Bethany Care policies.
- Assist residents in identifying personal goals and choices, providing interventions to improve their quality of life.
- Coordinate with families and community resources to achieve resident goals.
- Maintain accurate documentation in healthcare records, including resident-centered care plans.
- Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of resident and occupational health and safety policies.
- Guide and supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants to ensure effective service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent recognized by the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
- Experience in geriatric care is preferred.
- Familiarity with dementia care is advantageous.
- Active registration with ACOT is mandatory.
- Membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) is preferred.
- Membership in the Society of Alberta Occupational Therapists (SAOT) is beneficial.
- Able to thrive in a demanding physical and mental environment.
- Proficient in English, with strong observational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of performing lifting and transferring tasks for residents.
- Preferred status as an Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) authorizer - wheelchair level A.
