About This RoleNova Scotia Health (NSH) is inviting expressions of interest for the position of Site Specialty Lead for Hospitalists at a regional hospital. This role is crucial in overseeing the provision of hospitalist clinical services, collaborating closely with the Department Head of Family Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance of medical staff with the governing Bylaws and Rules of NSH.
- Advocate for the concerns and viewpoints of Department Medical Staff to the Zone Executive Director and/or Zone Department Head.
- Act as the Physician Lead for Emergency Preparedness initiatives.
- Manage site overcapacity challenges from the Department's perspective, serving as the primary contact for medical staff.
- Maintain service continuity through effective Department scheduling practices, including the establishment of a fair on-call roster and management of leave requests.
- Chair regular departmental meetings and participate in other committees as assigned.
- Engage in monitoring standards, quality, and resource utilization within the Department, including necessary reporting and auditing.
- Contribute to clinical services planning for the Department.
- Participate in fostering a respectful workplace environment in collaboration with the relevant Department Head.
- Involve in recruitment and retention efforts for the Department, including maintaining an updated roster of medical staff.
- Assist in onboarding processes for new hires in conjunction with the Department Head.
- Commit to leadership development and continuous learning to enhance leadership skills.
- Lead the incident review process at the site, coordinating with Quality and Patient Safety representatives.
- MD licensed in Nova Scotia and privileged with Nova Scotia Health.
- Demonstrated evidence of ongoing leadership training.
