This methodology is our approach to problem-solving and enacting substantial change. Black Belts are tasked with equipping the organization with the necessary methods and tools to refine processes and tackle complex challenges through analytical approaches. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of process management principles and various improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing, is essential. This role is also recognized as a pathway to nurture our future operations leaders.
Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
- Comprehend and support the execution of site objectives while aiding in the identification and quantification of Critical Business Needs (CBN) and primary improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate the OEE Continuous Improvement process with cross-functional teams, including the establishment of annual OEE improvement targets and leading weekly status reviews and action planning.
- Assist in the creation and advancement of the site Continuous Improvement plan, including project pipelines and monitoring overall progress.
- Ensure that Continuous Improvement project teams are employing the appropriate improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, OpEx tools) and provide necessary training on these tools.
- Conduct business case and risk assessments as necessary, offering Continuous Improvement Project Management support utilizing DMADV / PDCA frameworks.
- Research and implement functional best practices within the scope of projects.
- Guarantee sustainable outcomes through effective change management and practical control plans.
- Provide mentorship to leaders on Six Sigma, Lean, and Operational Excellence methodologies and tools.
- Support Site Leaders in deploying the Operations Excellence framework, including annual baseline assessments and pillar team deployments, while leading Waste Elimination teams to enhance operator skills in waste identification and elimination.
- Understand and support functional objectives and strategies.
- Assist in identifying and quantifying major opportunity areas, including the re-application of learning across the organization.
- Participate in the management team at the plant.
- Maintain an openness to coaching and actively engage in learning within the role.
- Occasional travel may be necessary for training or project-related work.
- A university degree (BSc., Engineering, or Operations Management).
- A minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience, particularly in manufacturing or supply chain, with experience in commercial, finance, or other transactional functions considered an asset.
- A proven track record of achieving successful outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the application of process improvement and quality tools, demonstrating a commitment to fact-based results.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
- Proven ability to drive change through influence.
- Experience in leading and/or coaching Continuous Improvement projects, recognized as a strong mentor in Continuous Improvement concepts.
- Experience in managing complex projects requiring strong leadership, initiative, and change management is advantageous.
- Prior experience with Six Sigma tools and methodologies is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and instruct on Lean Methodologies and Operational Excellence.
