Position Overview

The Internal Communications Specialist plays a pivotal role in enhancing organizational communication within North Island College. Reporting to the Associate Director of Community and Public Affairs, this position is integral in crafting, producing, and refining content that effectively conveys the college's narrative to its employees, students, and various stakeholders. The Specialist will engage in storytelling across multiple platforms, including print, digital, and video formats, to elevate awareness of the college's contributions to the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Develops and edits a wide range of communication materials, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic objectives and brand identity.
  • Media Relations: Engages with media outlets to promote the college's initiatives and manage public perception.
  • Project Management: Manages multiple communication projects simultaneously, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Collaboration: Works closely with various departments to support internal communications and enhance employee engagement.
  • Research and Analysis: Conducts research to inform communication strategies and assess the effectiveness of outreach efforts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in communications or public relations, preferably within the education sector.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a strong command of various communication styles.
  • Proficiency in multimedia content creation, including video production and photography.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
