Workday System Specialist (Human Capital Management and Compensation)

Job Overview:

The Workday System Specialist plays a crucial role within the Workday Support team, focusing on the configuration, enhancement, and maintenance of Workday, the institution's cloud-based software solution for Human Resources, Payroll, and Finance. This position requires a blend of business analysis capabilities, functional expertise, and in-depth knowledge of Workday products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in effective requirements gathering and communication with business stakeholders to design configuration solutions that address system challenges.
  • Test, plan, and implement chosen solutions while ensuring comprehensive documentation is maintained throughout the change enablement process.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improving user experience and enhancing end-to-end Workday business processes through research and evaluation of new features.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues and business owners on Workday functionality, best practices, and system limitations.
  • Act as a backup resource in various functional areas of the Workday system as needed.

Confidentiality and Collaboration:

Working closely with Labour Relations, Human Resources, and Finance, the incumbent will ensure that modifications to Workday uphold the integrity of sensitive employee information and documents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) year Diploma/Degree in Technology, Business/Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in human capital management aspects of enterprise resource planning systems.
  • At least three (3) years of hands-on Workday configuration experience, particularly in Core HCM and Compensation.
  • Five (5) years of experience in business analysis, including documenting and communicating business needs.
  • Preferred certifications include Workday PRO Certification and relevant professional designations.
  • Strong understanding of Workday platform interdependencies and experience in collaborative stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in test planning, documentation, and user acceptance testing support.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a focus on explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
