Marine Cargo Underwriting Expert

Groupassur is seeking a highly skilled Marine Cargo Senior Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our Marine Cargo Team, you will play a crucial role in analyzing and underwriting risks, ensuring the quality of our underwriting decisions, and providing exceptional service to our brokers and clients.
Main ResponsibilitiesNew Business
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers to negotiate and determine insurance rates, terms, and conditions.
- Underwrite and service new business in accordance with our program guidelines, ensuring a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Represent Groupassur at industry events and develop business relationships with brokers through marketing visits.
Renewals
- Provide guidance and support to Junior Underwriters for negotiating and issuing renewals, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify current and future opportunities, and verify insurance policies, wordings, and standards.
- Review and confirm underwriting standards to ensure they reflect contracts and meet program needs.
Endorsements
- Provide guidance and support to Junior Underwriters for negotiating and issuing requested endorsements, ensuring a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Approve cancellation of policies forwarded by Junior Underwriters, ensuring compliance with our underwriting standards.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Marine Cargo Insurance, with a strong understanding of risk analysis and underwriting principles.
- An insurance diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients.
- A high level of adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
