Project Director Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Director to lead our high-rise construction projects in Ottawa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of multiple projects from start to finish.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Manage high-value, high-rise project sites with a focus on delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  2. Monitor project performance, schedule, costs, equipment, manpower, materials, safety, and environment, and quality control.
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with project teams, trade contractors, architects, consultants, and clients.
  4. Coordinate the total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  5. Develop and implement project plans and execute them effectively.
  6. Conduct site tours, safety inspections, and lead by example to ensure policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to.
  7. Ensure comprehensive project close-out and manage project meetings.
  8. Mentor, coach, supervise, and assess the performance of direct reports and team members.
  9. Assist in securing new work by participating in estimates, working with sub-contractors, and participating in proposals and presentations.
  10. Lead negotiation of claims and disputes with the owner and sub-trades.

Requirements:

  1. A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or construction management.
  2. A minimum of 10+ years progressive construction experience, including leadership and mentoring.
  3. 8+ years relevant mid/high-rise project management experience.
  4. Experience managing high-value projects ($100 Million+).
  5. Project management of at least two full cycle, high-value, high-rise builds.
  6. Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, problem-solving, and timelines.
  7. Familiarity with construction project management software programs, Jonas Premier, Plan Grid, Blue Beam.
  8. Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes.
  9. Ability to troubleshoot problems related to construction, sequencing, and staffing.
  10. 1-year estimating experience preferred.
  11. Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Ability to understand and employ engineering/construction plans/specifications, methods, and procedures.
  13. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  14. Ability to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including owners, other managers, designers, supervisors, and tradespeople.
  15. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  16. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

What We Offer:

Our client is a major high-rise focused General Contractor with an excellent reputation and a presence across Eastern Ontario. We offer a basic salary of up to $200,000 depending upon experience, along with an annual bonus and comprehensive company benefits including health/dental, and RRSP matching.
