As a key member of the Sotera Health team, the Project Director will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams in multiple capital facilities/engineering projects. This role will involve adopting and applying project management tools, techniques, and best practices to ensure successful project delivery.

This includes developing and maintaining detailed project management plans, identifying risks, and implementing risk mitigation strategies. The Project Director will also be responsible for improving project management practices across the engineering and facilities team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, ensuring stakeholders are held accountable for progressing against established scope and timelines.
  • Drive the execution of projects within the portfolio, meeting stated success criteria and project value realization.
  • Anticipate and manage risks, issues, and trends, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with stakeholders.

Project Definition & Initiation

  • Lead the definition of business cases and project objectives, involving relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Facilitate the development of project specifications based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, and baselines.

Project Planning

  • Develop detailed project plans considering commercial, technical, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget using defined change management processes.

Project Execution, Monitoring & Control

  • Measure and monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary project team activities and monitor work related to function, delivery, resources, and quality.

Qualifications

Post-secondary engineering or technical degree, with a minimum of 4-5 years' experience managing complex technical projects. Project Management Certification is an asset.

  • Strong project management skills, with experience working with project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Ability to learn new tools and techniques, and grasp unfamiliar technical concepts quickly.
