The Health Care Aide - Patient Support Specialist will work under the leadership and direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse as team leaders, assisting residents and patients in meeting their personal activity of daily living needs as identified within an established care plan.
Key Responsibilities- Assist residents and patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents and patients
- Assist with mealtime and hydration
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans
- Communicate effectively with residents, patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Maintain a safe and clean environment
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
- One to two years' experience working in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of confidentiality and privacy requirements
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Interact with residents, patients, families, and healthcare team members
- May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
