Job Overview

The Health Care Aide plays a vital role in providing care and support to residents and patients in a health care setting. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Psychiatric Nurse, the incumbent assists with daily living needs and provides care according to established standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents and patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Provide care and support according to established care plans and policies
  • Work collaboratively with the care team to ensure high-quality care and support
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of residents and patients
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One to two years of experience working in a health care setting, preferably caring for elderly or disabled clients
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Conditions of Employment

  • Complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Adult Abuse Registry Check
  • Be immunized according to Southern Health-Santé Sud policy
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license, an all-purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance
