Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a skilled Treasury Analyst to provide essential analytical and research support within the Treasury division. This role is pivotal in assisting the Manager of Treasury and the Director of Expenditure Management in overseeing the government's financial engagements, including banking, borrowing, and investment activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive forecasting and monitoring of cash resources.
  • Administer debt financing and manage investment portfolios.
  • Prepare detailed policy documents and research materials to support decision-making.
  • Act as a financial advisor on borrowing and investment strategies.
  • Contribute significantly to the overall debt and investment management strategy.
  • Manage daily cash flow, investment, and borrowing positions effectively.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a recognized undergraduate degree in Banking, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have completed at least the second year of a recognized accounting designation or the introductory year of the CFA program. A minimum of two years of experience in banking, money, or capital markets is required. Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is considered an asset.

Language Proficiency:

Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is highly valued. Knowledge of Inuit culture and experience in a northern cross-cultural environment will also be advantageous.

Additional Information:

Priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit who self-identify as being enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement in accordance with the Priority Hiring Policy. Candidates with foreign post-secondary education credentials must have their qualifications assessed through a recognized Canadian institution.
