Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a dedicated Treasury Analyst to join our finance team. This role is essential in providing analytical and research support to the Treasury Manager and the Director of Expenditure Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of the government's investments in banking, borrowing, and investment activities.
  • Provide advisory services related to cash management and financial strategies.
  • Forecast, monitor, and invest cash resources while administering debt financing.
  • Prepare policy documents, research materials, and briefing documents.
  • Act as an advisor on borrowing and investment activities for the Government of Nunavut.
  • Contribute to the overall investment and debt management strategy.
  • Manage daily cash, investment, and borrowing positions effectively.
  • Prepare assessments for Financial Management Board submissions and assist in the preparation of relevant binders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A recognized undergraduate degree in Banking, Economics, Statistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Progress towards a recognized accounting designation or introductory year of the CFA designation.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in banking, money, or capital markets.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is considered an asset.

Language and Cultural Competence:

Fluency in one or more of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and experience in a northern cross-cultural environment are also valuable.
