In this role, you will oversee the comprehensive accounts payable and receivable functions, collaborating closely with the accounting department to ensure timely monthly closings, support year-end audit preparations, and assist in cash management strategies. You will also engage in special initiatives, including contributing to our ongoing finance technology advancements.
Key Responsibilities:Your primary duties will encompass, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing accounts payable processes, ensuring month-end closures, and maintaining a digital filing system for accounts payable.
- Managing the employee expense reporting system.
- Processing and validating employee expense claims and corporate credit card reconciliations.
- Maintaining the master vendor database, including new vendor onboarding and verification.
- Assisting in cash flow projections.
- Supporting the preparation of month-end reconciliations for financial statement generation.
- Facilitating daily accounting operations, including processing payment runs, managing wire transactions, and preparing weekly bank journal entries across multiple currencies.
- Providing analytical financial support and addressing requests for financial data from various departments.
- Assisting in the preparation of audit documentation and collaborating with external auditors.
- Supporting the annual SR&ED claim process, government audits, and Statistics Canada reporting.
- Contributing to the implementation of financial technology solutions as required.
- Maintaining training manuals and organizational systems for all financial processes and documentation.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls in all accounting activities.
- Performing other related tasks and projects as assigned.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate financial data and identify inconsistencies, ensuring precise financial reporting and informed decision-making.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- A commitment to continuous professional development to remain current with industry trends and accounting standards.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in task completion and problem resolution.
- Proficiency in collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting software systems would be advantageous.
