About the Opportunity

The Nutrition and Food Services team at Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient meal services and supporting the overall success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve patient meals, including assembling, portioning, and serving food and beverages
  • Deliver and collect patient trays, as well as distribute supplies and nourishments
  • Participate in receiving and storing food and non-food supplies, using First In First Out (FIFO) procedures
  • Receive and interpret patient diet/meal orders, confirming patient meal requirements
  • Perform cleaning and sanitizing duties, maintaining a safe and clean work environment
About You

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

Grade 12/GED or equivalent, or demonstrated skills and/or relevant work experienceRestaurant experience and customer service skills are considered assetsAbility to work as part of a team to provide services and achieve departmental and/or organizational goalsAbility to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracyAbility to communicate effectively while demonstrating civility and respectWorking Conditions

This is a casual, part-time position with a long assignment of approximately 12 months. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent standing and walking, bending, lifting (maximum of 35-40lbs), pulling and pushing, and transferring/transporting equipment.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $20.02.
