Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mine Engineer Senior to join our team at SSR Mining. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in mining engineering, with a focus on creating and implementing best practices to support the success of our departmental targets.

The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set that allows them to support various mine-engineering positions, including planning, scheduling, ventilation, ground control, services, and projects. They will be responsible for taking on infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, equipment procurement, and preparing packages for capital expenses.

The Mine Engineer Senior will also be responsible for creating and automating reports, analyzing data, combining mining costs and economics on mine performance, and providing technical documentation to support decision-making. They will work closely with business partners to calculate mineable reserves and engage with the entire Technical Services team to ensure team focus.

The ideal candidate will have a strong safety culture and be able to create a positive and proactive attitude towards teamwork and safety. They will also have excellent interpersonal and relationship skills, with the ability to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take on infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, equipment procurement, and prepare packages for capital expenses.
  • Create and automate reports, analyze data, combine mining costs and economics on mine performance, and provide technical documentation to support decision-making.
  • Support the mine operation with ice road procurement and resupply through accurate forecasting of required supplies.
  • Support the implementation of Deswik.OPs with the goal of creating seamless processes connecting mid-range plans with short-range plans and transitioning away from excel-based mining data capture.
  • Work with business partners to calculate mineable reserves.
  • Engage and interact with business partners across the organization to identify and implement improvement and operational excellence opportunities.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality in all work.
  • Assist in the preparation of medium and long-range mine plans.
  • Adhere to programs, systems, and procedures in mine design that meet industry standards and continually seek opportunities for improved design processes.
  • Interaction with entire Technical Services team to ensure team focus.
  • Create a strong safety culture through engagement and empowering others.

Requirements:

  • Certificate or Diploma of Technology in Mining with fifteen (15) years underground mining-related experience or degree in Mine Engineering, or related field, with ten (10) years' underground mining-related experience.
  • Experience with Deswik and Deswik.OPs would be considered an asset and must be well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Power Query, and PowerBi.

Working Conditions:

This position has a schedule of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off at our remote camp, which you will be required to fly in and fly out with pick-up points in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and La Ronge.
