As the Manager of Quality Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in the development and growth of quality engineering teams at Best Buy Canada. This dynamic position allows you to influence the future of our quality engineering department by establishing and executing policies, procedures, and standards that align with critical departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain a premier testing organization through a blend of in-house and outsourced capabilities.
  • Possess a robust understanding of industry standards and best practices in software testing and automation.
  • Guide, mentor, and coach QA team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Oversee testing activities involving system testing, vendors, partners, process owners, and other IT support teams to optimize testing effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to formulate short-term strategies by prioritizing and scheduling testing efforts.
  • Work with stakeholders to create comprehensive system integration, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing plans.
  • Promote continuous learning and development within the QA community.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics, defects, and conduct risk assessments to prioritize testing initiatives.
  • Ensure that software releases meet established quality standards prior to deployment.
  • Strategically plan for succession, recruit talent, and manage resources to align with business objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in software development and quality engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in leadership and management roles, either directly or indirectly.
  • Exceptional project planning abilities, including facilitation, presentation, and data organization skills.
  • Adaptability and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to influence and persuade individuals outside of direct reporting lines.
  • Familiarity with business workflow modeling techniques, use cases, and best practices in the software development lifecycle.
  • A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
