About the Role

Amazon is seeking an experienced International Tax Manager to join our team in Canada. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for providing tax support for our business lines and projects, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide Tax Guidance: Offer high-quality tax advice to business partners and teams on Canadian tax planning and compliance.
  2. Ensure Tax Compliance: Ensure new projects launch with direct tax requirements and processes implemented, minimizing risk and exposure to penalties.
  3. Stay Up-to-Date on Tax Trends: Identify and track planning and policy trends, both in Canada and globally, to inform tax strategies.
  4. Analyze Tax Legislation: Analyze and support legislative changes for Canada direct tax that are relevant to Amazon's businesses.
  5. Liaise with Tax Authorities: Liaise with advisors and tax authorities on matters relating to Canadian direct tax planning and the Amazon business.
  6. Lead Tax Planning: Lead and participate in Amazon's Canada federal corporate tax planning.
  7. Research Complex Tax Issues: Research complex Canadian inbound and outbound direct tax issues.
  8. Draft Tax Memos: Draft tax technical memos and opinions.
  9. Promote Tax Awareness: Promote direct tax awareness and knowledge internally, including liaising with business and tax partners on changes to systems, policies, and processes.
About the Team

Our team provides high-quality tax technical advice on complex or ambiguous areas, helping our partners see around corners and think through long-term implications of decisions. We also help our partner teams move quickly by outlining various options and practical solutions for moving forward.

Requirements
  1. 5+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience.
  2. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level.
  3. Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department.
  4. Degree in law or accounting (CPA or equivalent), or graduate degree in taxation.
  5. Completion of In-Depth Tax Program (Years - 1, 2, and 3).
  6. Significant experience in Canada and international taxation concepts, with an understanding of or practical experience with the excise tax act.
  7. Communication skills and ability to articulate complex tax laws in a business setting.
  8. Demonstrate ability to successfully lead complex, milestone-driven projects, including the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  9. Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects, is organized, possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and is able to deliver on tight deadlines.
  10. Highly motivated, hard-working, and able to work in a fast-paced, informal, and often ambiguous environment.

The base salary for this position ranges from $89,200/year up to $149,000/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
