Job Overview

In the role of Financial Reporting Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Finance Department under the guidance of the Financial Reporting Manager. Your contributions will be vital in executing various accounting responsibilities, particularly in lease accounting, and in aiding the preparation of external financial reports, Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), as well as securities filings across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the creation of quarterly and annual external Financial Statements, MD&A, and securities filings for both Canada and the United States. This includes tasks such as: Uploading internal Financial Statements and accompanying schedules into the Workiva Wdesk financial reporting platform, preparing note disclosures and supporting schedules, aiding in MD&A preparation, and reviewing XBRL tagging of Annual Financial Statements. Support quarterly reviews and annual audits of financial statements. Manage lease accounting and analysis to bolster the global lease portfolio. Contribute to the monthly preparation of Financial Statements, accounting entries, and account reconciliations related to lease accounting, long-term debt, and derivatives. Implement internal controls for financial policies, processes, and procedures. Provide financial and technical analysis for accounting policy position papers. Engage with the team by completing financial reporting tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting. CPA designation in progress or completed is preferred. Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience. Experience in financial analysis or data analytics is essential. Background in Consumer Products, retail, or manufacturing industries is advantageous. Previous experience with publicly traded companies or private firms with reporting obligations is beneficial. Familiarity with the COSO internal control reporting framework is preferred. Detail-oriented with robust analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required; experience with data analytics software is a plus. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365. Familiarity with the Workiva Wdesk platform for financial reporting is advantageous. Strong skills in technical internal controls compliance are essential.
