Cook - Meals on Wheels

Job Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for palliative care patients at Sakura House. This role requires the ability to work weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare meals in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines.
- Maintain the quality of food served and the sanitation of the food preparation area.
- Familiarize yourself with client needs, such as diet restrictions and allergies.
- Order ingredients and supplies as needed.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and inventory control.
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of supplies.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Follow established waste management guidelines.
- Report equipment and area maintenance needs.
- Ensure the kitchen meets established cleanliness and organization standards.
- Communicate any food service issues or concerns.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in food preparation in hospitality or healthcare.
- Previous experience in palliative care is an asset.
- Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
- Food Service Worker certificate preferred.
- Ability to read, prepare, and plan menus.
- Ability to prepare meals within time deadlines.

- Lifting and carrying moderate weight.
- Standing, walking, and climbing stairs.
