The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for palliative care patients at Sakura House, adhering to specific nutritional guidelines and regulations. This role requires the ability to work weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare meals in accordance with approved menus, standards, and regulations.
- Maintain the quality of food served, quantity prepared, and sanitation of the food preparation area.
- Familiarize yourself with clients' dietary needs, restrictions, and allergies.
- Ensure the ordering of required ingredients and supplies.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and inventory control.
- Store, label, and rotate supplies properly.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and safe working environment.
- Follow established waste management guidelines.
- Report equipment and area maintenance needs.
- Ensure the kitchen meets established cleanliness and organization standards.
- Communicate any food service issues or concerns.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one year of experience in food preparation in hospitality or healthcare.
- Previous experience in palliative care is an asset.
- Food Handler's Certificate preferred.
- Food Service Worker certificate preferred.
- Ability to read, prepare, and plan menus.
- Ability to prepare meals within time deadlines.
- Knowledge of proper food handling, cooking, temperature control, and quality control.
This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail, and the ability to lift moderate weights. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
