Job Summary

Coast Mental Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Young Adults Program, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of young adults aged 19-32.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and facilitate program activities, including leisure pursuits, community kitchen, and community outings, to promote socialization and skill-building.
  • Provide case management and establish trust-based relationships with clients, identifying their needs and goals.
  • Support clients in developing life skills, self-esteem, and decision-making abilities.
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources, services, and supports, promoting independence and self-advocacy.
  • Develop and lead wellness-awareness programs, maintaining accurate records and statistical data to inform program development and evaluation.
  • Perform administrative tasks, as assigned, to ensure efficient program operations.
  • Liaise with other service providers to ensure effective referrals and a continuum of care for clients.
  • Use assessment practices to develop individual plans, identifying clients' areas of interest and need.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and review of program and monthly calendar of events.
  • Address health and safety concerns, reporting incidents and crises as necessary.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Community Social Service or related field.
  • Recent experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and community resources.
  • Ability to engage clients, establish rapport, and work with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with street-entrenched youth and young adults, including those with multiple barriers and homelessness.
  • Understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation principles.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
