About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Youth Program Coordinator at Coast Mental Health. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the mental health and well-being of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement programs and activities that promote recreation, leisure, and life skills development for our clients.
  • Provide daily support and guidance to clients, including assistance with daily living tasks, meal preparation, and household chores.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths, needs, and goals, and develop individualized care plans to support their recovery.
  • Model healthy lifestyle habits and provide opportunities for clients to develop their own life skills, self-care practices, and coping strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external agencies to ensure seamless support and coordination of services.
  • Contribute to a safe and respectful environment by reporting any health and safety concerns and participating in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and agencies to ensure access to services and supports for our clients.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as trauma-informed care, psychosocial rehabilitation, and harm reduction.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Community Social Service Work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Recent experience working with youth and young adults in a mental health or social services setting.
  • Ability to provide or obtain required certifications, including First Aid and CPR, WHMIS, and FoodSafe.
  • Strong understanding of harm reduction approaches, abstinence-based models, and trauma-informed care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and mutual support.
