About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Sassafraz Restaurant. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our menu items.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision
    • Supervise and train a team of cooks and kitchen staff to ensure high-quality food preparation and presentation.
    • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items to enhance our culinary offerings.
  • Culinary Expertise
    • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
    • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Inventory and Supply Chain Management
    • Requisition and manage food and kitchen supplies to ensure efficient and effective kitchen operations.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, kitchen staff, and other restaurant personnel to ensure seamless kitchen operations.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Other trades certificate or diploma.
    • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a senior kitchen management role.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
    • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with a high level of physical activity. The ability to work in a physically demanding environment and maintain a high level of attention to detail is essential.
