As a Senior Accountant within our International Corporate Tax division, you will play a pivotal role in delivering tailored tax solutions that adhere to intricate regulatory standards. Your expertise will guide clients in optimizing their tax strategies, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with international reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage international corporate tax projects, providing insights on tax planning opportunities and compliance challenges for Canadian businesses operating abroad.
  • Offer specialized knowledge on complex offshore tax matters through client engagements, comprehensive reports, and high-quality deliverables.
  • Advise clients on optimal corporate structures from a tax perspective across various jurisdictions, including effective capitalization and financing strategies.
  • Conduct due diligence and modeling for potential acquisitions involving Canadian entities and international operations.
  • Investigate client inquiries related to compliance and planning, including the implications of tax treaties on various income types.
  • Strategically assess client needs by gaining a deep understanding of their business operations and identifying opportunities to enhance client relationships.
  • Collaborate with engagement teams to clarify roles, responsibilities, and project timelines before initiating client work.
  • Lead teams effectively, nurturing client relationships while mentoring junior staff members.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and strategies to enhance operational processes.
  • Engage in business development efforts to identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Maintain a willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
  • Progress towards a CPA designation; completion of the CFE examination and relevant practical experience will also be considered.
  • 2 to 4 years of pertinent experience in public accounting or tax.
  • Familiarity with U.S. or international tax matters, including personal, partnership, trust, and corporate tax, is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software applications.
