Job Title: Unit Clerk

At Health Sciences Centre, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive patients to clinic/unit and ensure accurate documentation is completed.
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, answering telephone calls and forwarding messages as needed.
  • Obtain, assemble, and maintain charts, transcribe physicians' orders, and schedule appointments/tests for patients.
  • Perform various tasks to ensure the care and comfort of patients, including preparing payroll information and maintaining clinic/unit supplies.
  • Enter patient data into applicable information systems and follow all HSC policy and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Previous related work experience is preferred.
  • Current hospital-based information systems/programs and scheduling systems/programs are preferred.
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, and successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program are required.
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Typing/keyboarding skills minimum 40 wpm are required.
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written) is required.
  • Ability to organize, manage time, and prioritize workload is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, seeking assistance as necessary, is required.
