Job Summary

The Leasing and Property Management Services Manager is a key role within the York Region District School Board, responsible for overseeing a diverse portfolio of residential rentals, commercial leased properties, and childcare operator licenses. This position requires a strategic thinker who can identify new lease opportunities, manage existing spaces, and ensure compliance with district and industry policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and implement policies and procedures to optimize leasing and childcare activities
  • Identify and secure new lease spaces, renew existing leases, and terminate or renegotiate agreements as needed
  • Manage a mixed portfolio of residential rentals and commercial leased properties, ensuring timely payments and compliance with regulations
  • Collaborate with finance, risk, education, and rentals departments to manage expenses, revenues, and budgets
  • Review contracts and submit reports to auditors, internal departments, and the board as required
  • Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to gather expert advice and recommendations on potential new spaces, negotiation strategies, and landlord communication
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in real estate, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leasing commercial real estate and/or property management
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others in a consultative and collaborative manner
  • Effective critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-resolution skills
