Canadian Mental Health Association - Simcoe County

Position Overview: The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch is seeking a Facilities and Safety Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective operation and upkeep of all facilities while adhering to the agency's standards and regulations. The manager will oversee health and safety functions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the upkeep and enhancement of all agency properties, including the formulation and execution of a comprehensive facilities maintenance strategy.
  • Conduct cost assessments and evaluate operational systems to identify high-value improvements.
  • Supervise all construction and renovation initiatives, acting as the primary contact for relevant grant applications.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and government entities to maintain compliance across all properties.
  • Lead the acquisition or leasing of facilities under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Oversee off-site leases, including signage, renewals, and liaising with property owners.
  • Conduct facility evaluations and develop actionable improvement plans.
  • Manage external service contracts related to consulting, construction, and maintenance.
  • In collaboration with the Human Resources Department, direct the Health and Safety program, encompassing risk assessments, safety audits, and training.
  • Identify potential workplace hazards and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Work with HR to investigate incidents related to employee health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Facilities Management or Health and Safety.
  • At least one year of leadership experience in a relevant field.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety or Joint Health and Safety is advantageous.
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is a plus.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
  • Fluency in French or another language is beneficial.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Salary Range: $75,858 - $81,481 *per annum

*salary is pro-rated based on hours worked

Work Hours:

  • Thirty-five hours per week.
  • Attendance at special events may be required.
  • Flexibility to meet agency and client needs is essential.
