Organization: Canadian Mental Health Association - Simcoe County
Position Overview: The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch is in search of a Facilities and Safety Manager. This role is pivotal in maintaining the operational integrity of all organizational facilities while ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the upkeep and enhancement of all organizational properties, both owned and leased, by developing and executing a comprehensive facilities maintenance strategy.
- Conduct cost assessments and evaluate operational systems to identify high-value improvement opportunities.
- Supervise all construction and renovation initiatives, serving as the primary contact for grant applications related to community infrastructure.
- Ensure all facilities comply with applicable regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- Collaborate with local authorities and government agencies to maintain compliance across all properties.
- Lead the management of facility transactions, including purchases, sales, and leases, under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Administer off-site leases, including signage, renewals, and liaising with property owners.
- Perform facility evaluations and create actionable improvement plans.
- Manage external service contracts related to consulting, construction, and maintenance.
- In partnership with Human Resources, direct the Health and Safety program, encompassing risk assessments, safety audits, training, and record maintenance.
- Identify and mitigate workplace hazards, implementing necessary safety measures such as panic alarms and surveillance systems.
- Work closely with HR to investigate incidents related to staff health and safety.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in Facilities Management or Health and Safety.
- At least one year of leadership experience in a relevant field.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety or Joint Health and Safety is an asset.
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation is considered beneficial.
- Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle is required.
- Fluency in French or another language is advantageous.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Salary Range: $75,858 - $81,481 per annum
Work Schedule: This position requires a commitment of thirty-five hours per week, with occasional attendance at special events and flexibility to meet organizational needs.
