Job Description

GFL Environmental is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to join our team in a key role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage all plant operations to ensure efficient and safe working practices.
  • Develop and implement programs to correct operational inefficiencies and difficulties.
  • Assist in the planning and scheduling of work for all facility operations to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with site ECA's, CBA, and other regulatory body governing requirements.
  • Manage the facility's inventory management system to ensure accuracy.
  • Work with sales and call centre to resolve customer inquiries regarding billing and invoicing.
  • Develop and implement training programs for direct reports to improve technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs and procedures for packaging, treatment, storage, transportation, and disposal of wastes.
  • Attend facility audits as required.
  • Support budget and forecasting as required.
  • Oversee and support facility's Administration staff.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
  • Support and ensure adherence to all H&S policies and procedures by management and staff.
  • Support training and orientation of new employees.
  • Assist in employee conflict/issue resolution as required.
  • Assist in reporting and investigating all near misses/incidents/accidents resulting in personal injury and/or property damage.
  • Assist in implementing corrective action as a result of incidents.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education (College Diploma or University Education)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the environmental waste management industry with a focus on industrial liquid waste industry;
  • Working knowledge of TDGA, O. Reg. 347, and Ontario Health and Safety Act;
  • Competent computer skills (MS Windows and Office);
  • Effective verbal and written communicator;
  • Motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment;
  • Safety conscious and detail oriented;
  • Organizational and people management skills in a large team environment;
  • Ability to design and execute work and project plans;
  • Valid G License with good driver abstract/CVOR abstract;
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required medical, physical, drug, and alcohol testing;
