About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our team at Ubisoft MTL. As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision within your area of specialization and planning its technical roadmap.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Vision and Roadmap: Define the technical vision within your area of specialization and plan its technical roadmap.
  • Team Leadership: Regularly meet with your programming team to discuss progress, tackle setbacks, share updates, present features, give feedback, and informatively and constructively explain the root causes of risks and issues.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor and motivate programmers to develop their technical skills and provide them with the necessary tools and resources to work efficiently and achieve quality.
  • Code Review and Validation: Provide technical oversight by reviewing code and making technical validations.
  • Issue Resolution: Anticipate and assess complex, escalated issues and propose adapted solutions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Synch up with other technical leads to remove blockers and keep production moving forward, and communicate with interdependent teams on other projects to exchange information.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay up to date on technological advancements and industry standards to define our best practices and share them with our studios.
Requirements
  • Education: An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Around 7 years of programming experience and 2 years of technical leadership.
  • Skills: A deep understanding of a variety of systems, programming languages, interdependencies, and critical issues or game engines, excellent mentorship, interpersonal, and presentation skills, a highly innovative and collaborative spirit, and effective cross-departmental communication.
  • Desired Qualities: A strategic approach to problem-solving, the ability to make informed, immediate decisions with minimal long-term impacts, and a desire to share knowledge to push the boundaries of technology and help others improve their skills.
