Position Overview:

As a Senior Production Engineering Expert at Cenovus Energy, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's production objectives by managing a portfolio of wells and assets. This position requires collaboration with reservoir and development engineers, geoscientists, operations engineering, and field operations to ensure optimal well performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Optimize Primary Conventional Heavy Oil wells to enhance profitability and support long-term resource recovery for core areas through effective artificial lift design, recompletions, well optimization, and operational strategies.
  2. Collaborate with subsurface teams, operations engineering, and field operations to implement both short-term and long-term improvements focused on subsurface performance.
  3. Develop annual downhole optimization plans for assigned core areas, working closely with subsurface teams and field operations to prioritize opportunities.
  4. Conduct monthly reviews of operating income by well, ensuring that changes in realized netback prices inform decisions regarding marginal well startups or shutdowns.
  5. Oversee production reporting and near-term production forecasting for assigned assets.
  6. Initiate and lead evaluations of new well startups, partnering with subsurface teams to enhance development through data acquisition, laboratory analysis, and empirical assessments.
  7. Perform annual competitor analysis across assigned assets, focusing on new well completion designs, workover frequencies, and other production engineering activities.
  8. Foster knowledge sharing among team members to enhance collective strengths and improve organizational performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Conventional Heavy Oil or SAGD is advantageous. Established expertise in Reservoir/Development Engineering, Production Engineering, or Facilities Engineering, with comprehensive knowledge across multiple subsurface fields is essential.
