Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Medical Device Sterilization Specialist.
The Medical Device Sterilization Specialist will be an integral part of the Medical Device Reprocessing team, responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of medical instruments used in patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Execute tasks related to the decontamination, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of medical products, including both simple and complex instruments, linens, and equipment utilized in various healthcare settings. Carry out designated cleaning tasks and restock supplies in operating and labor delivery rooms in accordance with established protocols. Contribute observations and insights regarding patient interactions to the multidisciplinary team. Perform additional clerical duties as required.About the Role
This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety in medical environments, ensuring that all equipment is properly sterilized and ready for use.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing course, along with one year of recent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Knowledge & Skills
Familiarity with surgical and medical terminology. Strong mathematical skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in operating related equipment. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position. Strong organizational skills.Additional Information
The work schedule, including days off and work area, may be subject to change based on operational needs and relevant agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
