Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join their team at Vancouver General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and special cell labeling for lower mainland hospitals.
  • Prepare and dispense radiopharmaceuticals for shipping, and label cells using sterile techniques.
  • Instruct manufacturing and cell labeling techniques to staff, and operate nuclear medicine laboratory equipment.
  • Perform routine quality control tests on equipment and radiopharmaceuticals, and monitor radioactive storage areas using detection devices.
  • Dispose of radioactive substances and contaminated items according to established guidelines.
Requirements
  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Two years' recent experience in radioisotope imaging and radiopharmacy dispensing, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice of radiopharmacy dispensing and radiation safety practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform aseptic techniques, and knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of radiopharmacy equipment and computer applications, and ability to communicate effectively.
