Job Overview
The Automation Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operational and strategic elements of various large-scale automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
· Directs the project team to ensure timely execution of projects within budget, delivering the agreed-upon scope of work while adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
· Acts as the primary contact for clients on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction through regular communication (both verbal and written) with key representatives, documenting all significant project events and issues.
· Manages project risks through:
- Risk assessment and identification
- Development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies
- Forecasting potential challenges
· Project Planning:
- Establishes appropriate budget allocations for labor and materials.
- Oversees the development of project schedules, identifying critical path activities.
- Conducts initial project planning meetings.
- Manages project resources, ensuring adequate assignments for all tasks.
· Financial Management:
- Collaborates with financial analysts to ensure timely billing and invoicing, preparing necessary documentation for milestone payments.
- Prepares accurate financial and resource forecasts, generating reports as required by management.
· Addresses deficiencies by escalating issues to department managers or the Program Manager.
Team Leadership:
- Facilitates regular team communication meetings.
- Mentors team members to maintain high morale and efficiency.
- Leads by example, ensuring adherence to all company procedures.
- Coordinates post-project employee assessments.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Acts as a customer advocate, striving for maximum satisfaction.
- Proactively addresses customer concerns and escalates issues when necessary.
- Partners with account managers to effectively manage client relationships.
Management Reporting:
- Participates in project status meetings as requested by management.
- May report to a Program Manager for larger initiatives.
Change Management:
- Monitors all contract modifications and prepares Change Order Requests (CORs).
- Ensures that changes requested by clients are executed only after obtaining their agreement.
Qualifications:
Education:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering (electronics, electrical, mechanical, or controls) is preferred; pursuing or holding a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is advantageous.
Experience:
- Proven experience managing automation projects exceeding $10 million with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in coordinating diverse project design and construction teams.
- Minimum of three years in a leadership role across various projects and markets.
- Strong background in manufacturing or process engineering, with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with computerized word processing, spreadsheets, and design software (e.g., AutoCAD) is essential.
