Job Summary

Avka Trucking INC. is seeking a skilled and experienced Long Haul Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods and materials across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Logistics
    • Arrange travel itineraries and make reservations for safe and efficient transportation.
    • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, ensuring timely delivery of goods.
    • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection
    • Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure all aspects of the vehicle are in good working order.
  • Communication and Record Keeping
    • Receive and relay information to central dispatch, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
    • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption to maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
    • Will train for the role.
  • Transportation and Travel Experience
    • International travel experience.
    • Long-haul travel experience.
    • National travel experience.
    • Provincial/territorial travel experience.
    • Regional travel experience.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
    • Attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle heavy loads.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a large workload.
