Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Job Summary:

Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our interdisciplinary resident care team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing services to residents with complex and unpredictable health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing services to residents, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with residents, families, medical professionals, and support staff to achieve the mission of MCH for quality resident care.
  • Utilize a continual process of assessment and evaluation skills to provide restorative, rehabilitative, and personal nursing care on a resident care unit.
  • May be responsible for directing other nurses, students, healthcare aides, and other support staff in the performance of resident care.

Requirements:

  • Three (3) years current clinical experience in gerontology preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered, including recent student practicum.
  • Graduate of an approved nursing educational program.
  • Current registration with College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual resident to a group of residents.
  • Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.
  • Ability to perform independently and as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to maintain concentration with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of MDS.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be flexible.
  • Must be self-directed and have the ability to work in a rapidly changing internal and external environment.
  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals.
  • Involves physical activities such as standing, transferring, and transporting residents and equipment.
  • May encounter exposure to disease, radiation, toxic material, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc.
