Situated in Ontario, the manufacturing facility stands out as a leading center for environmental applications engineering and production, offering a comprehensive array of EPA and CARB Verified exhaust emissions control solutions. The company provides a diverse range of products for OEM, aftermarket, and retrofit markets aimed at reducing exhaust emissions from on-road, off-road, and stationary diesel, gasoline, and alternative fuel engines, including propane and natural gas. The diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter products have demonstrated effectiveness in the most challenging environments, such as mining, tunneling, cargo handling, and urban transit.

Our products are designed to enhance air quality, boost productivity, and ensure the health and safety of employees. Position Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering will oversee research and development initiatives aimed at enhancing existing products and facilitating the introduction of new offerings. This role involves providing technical support to both internal teams and external clients.

The Director will utilize a variety of design and engineering skills to innovate and refine products across multiple applications, ensuring a balance between cutting-edge design and practical functionality. Responsibilities include:

  • Product Development
    • Collaborating with other department heads to align with company objectives.
    • Creating and maintaining a System Roadmap in line with the company’s strategic goals.
    • Managing the New System/Product Introduction process and associated documentation.
    • Assisting in product planning and technical research for new initiatives.
    • Supporting marketing efforts for product launches and coordinating test markets.
    • Engaging with engineers, managers, and customers to discuss project requirements and timelines.
    • Monitoring project status to ensure timely documentation submission.
    • Reviewing project documents for accuracy and compliance.
    • Submitting documentation for management approval and ensuring customer communication.
    • Implementing cost-effective design strategies to enhance project success rates.
    • Assisting project managers with change orders.
    • Overseeing testing of new and existing products.
  • Technical Support
    • Providing engineering support and maintaining knowledge of ongoing projects.
    • Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with testing and qualification of key components.
    • Offering technical assistance to Regional Sales Managers and fostering relationships with local representatives.
    • Training sales personnel and customers on product specifications and applications.
    • Conducting presentations on products at various seminars throughout the year.
    • Gathering competitive intelligence to inform product strategies.
    • Facilitating customer meetings at the facility as needed.
  • Management
    • Performing administrative duties, including report preparation and expenditure approvals.
    • Monitoring project schedules and budgets, reallocating resources as necessary.
    • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for engineering operations.
    • Preparing annual budget requests based on projected needs.
    • Ensuring compliance with quality systems.
    • Communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Staff Development
    • Recruiting and evaluating engineering staff, ensuring skill development and competence.
    • Conducting performance evaluations and managing team dynamics.

Key Performance Indicators

The successful candidate will be expected to meet specific performance goals that will be established upon hiring.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of experience in design engineering and engineering management.
  • Experience with engines and emissions technologies, particularly in diesel applications.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
