Medical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, performing equipment maintenance and calibration, and monitoring quality control results.
Key Responsibilities- Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormal results
- Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory analyzers and equipment
- Monitor quality control results and respond to discordant results
- Ensure specimen collection, integrity, transport, and storage meet laboratory standards
- Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
- Assist with bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests
- Monitor temperature and expiry dates of blood and blood component products
- Check operating room lists to ensure blood products are available for surgeries
- Issue blood and blood component products
- Participate in laboratory quality management and process improvements
- Graduate of an accredited medical laboratory technology program or equivalent education
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
- Minimum two years recent chemistry, hematology, and transfusion medicine experience in a hospital laboratory setting
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high productivity, competence, and professionalism
- Able to evaluate and analyze information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process
- Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and other Microsoft Office computer systems
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
- Demonstrated Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration
