POSITION OVERVIEW

The Project Management Associate is responsible for orchestrating the comprehensive delivery of designated projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and specifications.

In this role:

Projects typically exhibit moderate complexity, risk, and exposure.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

For the projects assigned:

Directs and manages the full lifecycle of assigned projects, which are generally of lower complexity, risk, and exposure. Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to define project scope, deliverables, and requirements. Formulates and executes project plans. Assesses resource and budget needs, providing cost estimates and timelines. Identifies potential project risks and devises mitigation and contingency strategies. Tracks project progress against timelines, ensuring timely completion. Supervises project team members and monitors task completion. Communicates project status to all relevant stakeholders. Guarantees project delivery aligns with timelines, scope, budget, and specifications, while complying with all regulatory, environmental, and health and safety standards.

Client Relationship Management

Cultivates and sustains effective relationships with clients. Addresses issues, manages client expectations, and ensures satisfaction. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Immediate Project Needs

Projects will commence promptly; the project manager collaborates with the operations team to gather requirements. Initiates a risk assessment, cost estimation, and kickoff meeting with all stakeholders to outline next steps. Funding is often secured rapidly, necessitating a solid understanding of industry benchmarks and current costs to provide budgets to clients. Capable of independently addressing challenges to maintain project momentum. Recognizes the importance of consistent communication. Navigates the client's organization to identify key stakeholders for project updates. Schedules updates, risk assessments, and opportunity discussions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

A diploma from a community college in architectural technology, construction technology, engineering technology, or equivalent experience. 1 to 3 years of experience in project management; or 5 to 7 years in project coordination. Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with all specifications and requirements. Experience in developing and managing project budgets. Demonstrated ability in risk mitigation and management. Strong communication, influence, persuasion, and negotiation skills. Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships. Strong client service orientation. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing project teams. Experience in managing vendor performance. A continuous improvement mindset focused on quality and best practices. Proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to quickly learn new software. High sense of urgency and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to independently create project schedules. Capability to develop class D estimates without consultant assistance. Strong multitasking abilities, managing multiple projects at various stages. Understanding of the construction industry. Ability to tailor reporting for executives and team members. Skilled in creating business cases for funding with clear, precise information. Goal-oriented with a knack for implementing creative solutions.

Licenses and Professional Accreditations

One or more of the following is considered an asset:

Project Management Institute Accreditation (in progress). LEED certification (in progress) or Construction Administration Certificate.
