CNIB Deafblind Community Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist, Intervenor to join our team. As a Specialist, Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are Deafblind to maximize their independence and engagement with the world around them.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-on-one service and support to individuals who are Deafblind in the home or community, facilitating access to information and communication.
- Act as a sighted guide and environmental information provider, empowering individuals to actively participate in their community.
- Work collaboratively with individuals to determine their level of support and develop personalized plans to meet their needs.
- Empower individuals to make informed decisions and participate in recreation, education, vocation, self-advocacy, and learning opportunities.
- Knowledge of theories and principles of intervention, Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and common associated health-related concerns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with key stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Diploma or degree in the human services field or related experience, with a willingness to learn and practice alternate formats of communication.
