Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Healthcare Affairs Specialist

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Healthcare Affairs Specialist to become a vital part of the Medical Affairs Administration team. This role is essential in supporting the overall mission of VCH.

Responsibilities of the Healthcare Affairs Specialist include:

Delivering confidential credentialing and privileging assistance for VCH Medical Affairs. Upholding the integrity and confidentiality of all physician demographic and privileging data. Collaborating with senior management and physicians while managing sensitive complaints from medical staff members, addressing inquiries related to credentialing and privileging processes, and connecting medical staff with the appropriate resources. Primarily focusing on the coordination, oversight, and support of the VCH credentialing and privileging operations. Maintaining related databases to ensure information accessibility across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH). Key relationships will be with VCH Physician Relations, Community of Care (CoC) Medical Affairs offices, and senior leadership team members.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of a recognized administrative assistant/secretarial post-secondary program. A minimum of three (3) years of senior administrative support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proficiency in advanced word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.

Knowledge & Skills

Comprehensive understanding of physician credentialing and privileging procedures. Proven customer-focused approach. Ability to exercise considerable judgment, tact, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information. Capacity to build effective relationships with VCH staff at all levels, as well as with external agencies and physicians. Exceptional computer and technical skills are crucial. Ability to influence change and manage conflict effectively. Capable of working independently and demonstrating self-direction. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to represent the team's interests with various stakeholders at all organizational levels. Excellent time management skills to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently, contributing to departmental effectiveness and organizational success. Ability to manage a high volume of work and set priorities effectively. Independent problem-solving and decision-making skills. Attention to detail when maintaining, monitoring, calculating, and summarizing data and other information. Collaboration with peers to ensure that administrative systems and processes are consistently followed and monitored for effectiveness, addressing any identified gaps. Expertise in utilizing current computer applications to create diverse documents and presentations. Physical capability to perform the duties of the position.
