Position Overview:
The role of the Administrative Support III is crucial within the Health Information Management sector. Reporting to the Supervisor of Registration, Switchboard, and Patient Information, this position is pivotal in managing telecommunication operations that facilitate access to services for patients, the public, and staff across Alberta Health Services. Utilizing advanced technologies, including a sophisticated computerized multiline call system and nurse call responder, the switchboard team ensures efficient communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute telecommunication functions, ensuring seamless connectivity for patients and healthcare providers.
- Perform clerical tasks as delegated, contributing to the overall efficiency of the department.
- Announce hospital emergency codes and connect on-call physicians and healthcare providers.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and accuracy in all interactions.
- Demonstrate excellent judgment and initiative while working independently.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must possess advanced administrative skills and knowledge to support intricate procedures and initiatives within the department.
Required Qualifications:- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant or Unit Clerk program is essential, though other relevant post-secondary education may be considered.
- A Medical Terminology certificate is required (or to be completed within three months of hire). A Medical Terminology test will be administered with a pass mark of 60%.
- Keyboarding proficiency of 40 wpm (corrected for errors) is necessary, with a typing test to be conducted.
- Proven ability to maintain privacy in sensitive situations is mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with a focus on positive and respectful interactions.
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while effectively prioritizing and organizing tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Preferred Qualifications:- Preference will be given to candidates with internal qualifications in Health Information Management, particularly those with experience in Registration, Switchboard, and Patient Information, as well as Connect Care training specific to this role.
- Experience with multiline switchboard operations is advantageous.
